Description: VIETNAM WAR, WESTERN BOWIE KNIFE, VERSION 3, EARLY 1967-1968 WITH DANGLER SHEATH. GUARD MARKED “BOWIE”. SUPER NICE WARTIME WESTERN!!!VIETNAM WAR, VERSION 3 BOWIE KNIFE WITH DANGLER SHEATH. NICE PLEASING TONE TO THE WOOD GRIPS. SMALL RIVETS IN HANDLES. BLADE HAS DARKNESS, LIGHT RUST AND TONING, CREATING A GREAT SENSE OF CHARACTER. GUARD MARKINGS OF THE VERSION 3 ARE AS FOLLOWS: LEFT SIDE OF GUARD: “WESTERN / BOULDER COLO. USA. RIGHT SIDE OF GUARD: “BOWIE”. Condition: This knife remains in essentially uncleaned condition, so this means the blade has discoloration, darkness, rust, etc. . The blade has been given an edge and you can see in the images the narrow lighter color on the edge. It's very sharp. The handles are original with no missing pieces, has the early small rivets--some dings and dents mostly on one side along with just wear and tear. Sheath has scratches from wear and tear, but very nice with "DANGLER" hanger intact. Nice braided leg lace. See all images. One of the big no-no's with the Western Bowie knives, is that it's a HUGE MISTAKE to keep snapping than sheath retainer strap. I cannot tell you how many nice knives I've seen that have a broken strap. I'm sure you you've seen it yourself. So, I store my knives out of the SCABBARD or SHEATH and I insert a shape retainer in it. On there strap, I don't snap it, but just put in place and wrap a paper over it to hold it from flopping around. It just kills me to see these straps broken on other knives when it is completely avoidable by NOT snapping it. I'll admit, I do tend to take it to the next level by putting forms inside the SHEATH and paper strap retainers, but that's just me. I like to take care of my collectibles, in the manner that a museum would. That by the way, that is benefit to you- when you buy something from me.
