Description: This quality doll is in excellent condition, having had a quiet life in a display case or in storage. There is foxing on the blouse and apron. I think it is from late 1950s to the mid 1960s. It is probably from Finland in the south western region. There is info online on the regional variations. Costumes from Mouhijärvi area look like the doll's costume. The skirt textile is very like that from Janakkala. The cap can be seen in a Wiki image of folk dancing in Kerava. The shawl looks like one seen in a Helinski outfit. The arms and legs are stiff, and the textiles look authentic. The finely modelled face is precisely hand painted and the long hair is made into 2 plaits. The hair is an unusual shade of brown. I looked up photos of the area, and the shade may be common to the people there. There is a red cap, topped with a bow and edged with tatting or lace. There is a loose white cotton or linen look blouse and a white apron with detail at the hem. The red skirt is in varied stripes. A purse hangs at the waist. The waistcoat is in green with a clasp. There is a fine, floral patterned, fringed white shawl. The white painted legs and the hands look artisan made.. There is some foxing of the fabric, as seen.. Measurements, (approx): - height - 18.5 cm width - 13 cm at widest .... Postage can be merged and the excess returned.
