Vintage ESSO Service Station Coveralls Chain Stitched W/ Original Receipt 1940s

Description: Great original 1940s set of pinstripe coveralls /jacket from an Esso Service Station. The name Esso was previously embroidered on the back, as well as a patch on the front. For some reason both of those have been removed, but the rest of the embroidery remains. One photo has been digitally edited to make it easier to see the "shadow" left by lettering on the back. The chain stitched embroidery is very nicely done. This set of coveralls has the name of the owner-operator-mechanic of an Esso station formerly in Florence, SC. The same name is visible on the original paper receipt, which is included with the coveralls. The playing card and vintage fountain pen were found in the pockets and are also included with the sale. This is an excellent example of vintage clothing that also ties into automotive and gas /oil collecting. Really great looking piece to see in hand! Very rare to find something like this with documented proof connecting it to an exact station. Photographed in natural daylight. Photos may not accurately represent actual colors.
