Description: so i just spent over an hour scrolling thru 1000's of Harley-Davidson vests (both current and ended listings) for sale here on the ebay and wow-o-wow are there some stinkers up here (and i don't get that time back). what is it with open front V-neck vests?!? easily 98% of the vests have a plain open front or one with the little 'saloon keeper' collars circa ye olde west Gunsmoke era.. please explain this concept to me partner! they don't do you anything on a motorcycle- no wind protection whatsoever. and the stitching/lace up sides? like an old timey bustier/corset sorta deal? is that really the look you want to put out there miss Kitty? and then all the pins and doo dads and whatnots, ribbons, strappy deals and buckles, rockers and garish coloured patches..? its a very peculiar form of vanity that gives off a whiff of an inner psychological... daintiness. and dandy-ism. which, to me, seems at odds with the hyper masculine mystique or aura that HD, on paper (in its advertising), wants to project to the world.anyhoo. i've whined and moaned about this in other listings and i'm going to give it a rest. i have been trying to find a website that lists the places, in chronological order, that harley has had its manufacturing done in over the years. my super rough "idea" of it is as follows- USA through and up to 70's or 80's, then Korea, followed by Indonesia/Malaysia, then India and since the 2000's.. China. i'm certain there are exceptions and they may even still assemble some of their "life-style" brands here in the US of A.this here vest was made in India and really seems vintage. but "vintage" is a very 'elastic' word these days. i would guess this was made in the 1990's. the leather *is* distressed (and the patches are as well) and not that super awful, super fake "put it in a rock tumbler/use a band sander on it" look that a lot of the newer, crummy "vintage-looking" stuff HD has put out since 2000 so obviously exhibits. but i'm sure its not quite as old as it looks. but it *is* well done this time... and talon zippers.... eh..?and i LIKE this vest!! a lot! 2-way TALON zippers for the main front drive. no superficial vanities. red cotton linen/twill interior. classy!and if it fit me i'd totally keep it (but probably lose the patches...) measurements in pics. the only real flaw is a small hole on lining- easily patched. all zippers work. all the pockets are all there. no smells or funny business. chest measures at 36 inches but the dude in the pics wears a 42 usually. he is 5' 11", 155 lbs, 31" waist and skinny. it fits him very snuggly. too snugly i think.. holler with any questions or requests,doug PS: i've got a really cool, really bad-ask looking vest coming for listing in a couple weeks or so after i'm done repairing it. it did not start out as a vest- someone cut the arms off a very nice old jacket a long time ago. truely vintage. label is leather but unreadable. quilted satin lining. trying to find out if its horse or steerhide. super sturdy and awesome.PPS: i've got about 25, 30 more MC related pieces to list, mostly vintage, pants and jackets that will slowly be going up in the coming weeks/months..
