When the lamp is completely warmed up and the lava is flowing, the lava is a red/orange coloring when rising to the top and falling to the bottom. At the bottom, the colors can have a yellow, green, orange and reddish tint. The camera for some reason, can not capture the true color of the fluid, nor the lava contents. It really is an awesome lava lamp that looks even more spectacular in person! The bulbs have been recently replaced with 40 watt incandescent bulbs which is, I believe, what was in there to begin with. The Link'd Lava Lamp has a cord with a roll on/off switch. It is in excellent used condition, but is not perfect because it is not a new item. The base and top of the chain link is plastic. The lava fluid filled area are glass with metal top caps.
