Description: VINTAGE 13" TALL Solid Brass Candlestick Holder Tavern Bell Candle Stick ~ CLEAN Traditional "Tavern Bell" or "Dinner Bell" 13 inch tall brass candlestick with working bell. Lovely chime when tipped so the clapper rings the brass bell. Was manufactured by Baldwin Brass of Reading, Pennsylvania - the label was on the felt that lined the bottom of the base, but somewhere over the years the felt was removed and is no longer appended to the candlestick base. Baldwin Brass closed its Reading, PA manufacturing facility in 2011. They were known for their fine traditional English and Americana cast brass home decor and hardware. Supposed to have been an English traditional form, used to summon service at public taverns in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales in the 18th and 19th centuries. Likely also used in colonial and early American taverns, inns, and public houses as well. Would be lovely at a wedding for the Unity Candle uniting the bride and groom families. I pack with care and ship promptly. Shipping fee calculated by eBay based on the size and weight of the package. Ships from my southeast Pennsylvania 19363 zip code to the buyer.
