Description: Ok. The cover of this book is in rough shape for stains. The back bottom has a tear. Inside many of the pages are entries from the owner actually using the book for its intended purpose…how to be a proper young lady and attract a husband so that you can live happily ever after. (Did it work for you, Carol Short, in 1963?) I absorbed every page of this book. It’s mind blowing to see how we have changed in such short period of time. If you are interested in the social nuances of a young teenager approaching womanhood in 1963, you have to get this book..you will not regret it. All of the pages are intact while a good bit of the pages have Carols personal details (measurements to make certain you are in top shape for the attention of a man’s gaze) and various other things she’s shared in the pages. It’s a large book measuring in at 17 inches tall bit only 7 inches wide. Montgomery Wards was a huge company and if you are old enough you remember it well. They put this out. Maybe Wendy Ward was the matriarch of the Ward family, I really know. Did this come before Emily Post? I also don’t know. If you are looking for a very pristine book, this is not the one for you. If condition issues aren’t a deterrent and you have an interest in what becoming a proper young lady was like in the early 60s, buy it. It’s amazing. Please examine photos as they are a part of the description. Returns are accepted with buyer to pay return shipping.
