Description: Wm Johnson Newark NJ Rosewood Mortising Gage Or Gauge. This weighs 7 oz unboxed. The Wm Johnson Company was a Newark NJ tool maker who was in business from 1830 until 1957. This is in decent condition and was cleaned. The beam has some light dings and a row of deeper ones from the locking screw (there should be a square metal shoe plate in there, but those were easily lost). The points are good and the adjuster works. The head has some light dings to the wood. The brass strips have some wear and user marks. This ain't minty, but it's got some age to it, and it still will get the job done. A collectible old mortise gage for sure! All items for sale unless otherwise noted are purchased and in most cases professionally restored by me. I take pride in offering quality items. Not everything is perfect, but it is as I say it is. Also, I smoke a pipe, drink whiskey, both cheap and good, and cuss more in a hour than most folks do in a month.
