Description: Original WW2 (1944) UNITED STATES War Department Map of USSR entitled "CHELKAR". Shows a stretch of the border between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. (The large sea on the Eastern side of the map is much smaller in the modern landscape due to diversion for irrigation.) Printed in January 1944. In great condition. From a large collection recently sold off by Edinburgh University - hence ink stamping to margin. (Following both World Wars, the government distributed excess stocks of Allied maps, along with captured enemy examples, to various national institutions such as libraries, museums, universities etc.) Will be shipped as per its existing fold lines. Please see my other WW2 (and WW1) maps, documents, photos etc. PLEASE NOTE - Following BREXIT, items exported from the UK to EU countries may now incur import tariffs on arrival.
