Description: You are bidding on a VERY NICE used example of a WW2 German Wehrmacht Torn. Fu. d2 - Tornister Funkgerat d2 "Hans" Radio Transceiver, as used in conjunction with both Heer and Fallschirmjaeger units throughout the war! The Torn.Fu.d2 transceiver was introduced in 1936. It is one of the first models of the "new generation" of military radio devices developed to re-arm Germany. The vacuum tubes in the Torn.Fu.d2 are the RV2P800 and the RL2T2 types. The tunable transmitter was designed with three stages (2 x RV2P800 and 1 x RL2T2). The six-tube heterodyne receiver featured HF, mixer, local oscillator, IF, detector and LF stages that utilized the RV2P800 pentodes. There was a two-stage filter with a quartz crystal between the mixer and IF stage. With minor modifications (changed type description, IF filter without quartz, and the volume control in another position), the Torn.Fu.d2 was produced in large numbers from 1937 and distributed to the Infantry and Airforce (Heer and Luftwaffe). It was exported with the identification plate "ASE113". This transceiver featured separate scales for the receiver and transmitter, and the 33.8 - 38 MHz frequency range was not directly tuned, but corresponded to 100 channels (0-100) at 42 KHz increments. The transceiver was housed in a portable case and equipped with a set of six rod antennas and a base. The anode and filament batteries were carried in a separate accessary case along with the microphone, telegraphy key, headphones, antenna items, etc.,. The power cable was long enough to allow two soldiers to walk together while the radio and batteries were connected. Both cases weighed 18 kg. The range was about 4 km with the 0.4 W output of telephony operation, and about 10 km with 1W output during telegraphy operation. The receiver's sensitivity is around 3 micro-volts for 1 volt output voltage across 4000 Ohms. Made of aluminum and steel, this T. Fu. d2 Field Radio Transceiver is in VERY NICE used condition! Though there are some marks, scratches, dents and wear, it still retains 95% of its original wartime paint and finish! 100% complete internally, and mechanically functional, however, I have not tested it for electrical functionality. Should be a good restoration candidate for anyone wishing to get it to work. All switches and dials work as they should. Missing the front cover, but originals (and reproductions) come up, as they are often missing. Features a prominent, "Eigentum der Wehrmacht Dänemark" property stamp on the reverse, indicating it was in use in Denmark before being captured by the allies. I have shown this exact type of radio in use in the last image. A VERY RARE radio it would make a FANTASTIC addition to any collection or display! Note that as this weighs approx. 45lbs., I have ESTIMATED a general shipping cost. A more accurate shipping cost will be calculated at the end of the auction, based on the winning bidder's address.
