Description: Yosemite National Park, CALIFORNIA - Yosemite Lodge - 1950: Yosemite National Park is an American national park in the western Sierra Nevada of Central California, bounded on the southeast by Sierra National Forest and on the northwest by Stanislaus National Forest. The park is managed by the National Park Service and covers an area of 748,436 acres (1,169 sq. mi; 3,029 km2) and sits in four counties: centered in Tuolumne and Mariposa, extending north and east to Mono and south to Madera County. Yosemite Valley Lodge (formerly Yosemite Lodge at the Falls) is a modern yet rustic lodge that was redesigned in 1998. Today the main complex emphasizes glass and wood detailing to blend harmoniously with the natural surroundings of the beautiful Yosemite Valley, including Yosemite Falls. Yosemite Valley Lodge received its name because it is, quite literally the closest property to Yosemite Falls. The property is an easy walk from the base of the beautiful waterfalls beneath which it is located. This Linen Era postcard, mailed in 1950, is in good condition, but it has lost its stamp. "C.T.
